When the Corsairs are set to Weak or Medium, Corsair ships only start appearing after a player discovers the lair. The difficulty setting of the Corsairs is preset for Scenarios, but can be adjusted when creating a new Continuous game.Ĭorsair ships are sent out from Hassan's Lair, at which point they start roaming the map and occasionally return. While dealing with Corsairs can feel difficult or annoying, having Corsairs in a game offers some great benefits that can outweigh the threat they pose. These quests are unlocked by either paying for many treaties, leading to The Feast, or by destroying enough Corsair ships, leading to The Last Contingent. The Alliance will be signed after the player shows their worth to the Corsairs by completing one of two quests.
Ultimately, the player will be able to fraternise with the Corsairs and create a permanent Alliance with Hassan ben Sahid. He will send out Corsair ships to roam the region, attacking ships of those who do not pay for treaties with him. In Continuous games he will be hard to avoid, however, assuming Corsairs are active.
